Eat Your Way Through Oceanside with the Green Room’s Guide to Oceanside Restaurants
Oceanside may be known for its surf and iconic pier, but our sleepy little Southern California Beach town is starting to get the recognition it deserves as a global food hub. While we don’t have the bustling urban sprawl of LA or the towering skyscrapers of New York, we do have a diverse and eclectic food scene that has everything from Michelin Star contemporary Mexican to cherished dive bars, award-winning breweries, and everything in between. Our location in South Oceanside puts our boutique hotel at the intersection of North Carlsbad and Oceanside, an ideal location for food lovers to enjoy the best of both our coastal communities. Date Night Oceanside Restaurants
Valle
Valle, the contemporary Mexican kitchen led by Chef Roberto Alcocer, tops our list of Oceanside Restaurants. As the first Oceanside restaurant to be awarded a Michelin Star, tables at Valle are in high demand. With a razor-sharp focus on utilizing fresh Baja and California ingredients, Chef Alcocer transforms each dish into a tasting tour of his beloved Baja. With both meat and vegetarian tasting menus and optional wine pairs, Valle has something for everyone.
Blade 1936
Named as a tribute to the Blade Tribune newspaper that previously occupied the building in 1936, Blade 1936 now offers diners newsworthy Italian staples like Neapolitan wood-fired Pizzas, freshly made pasta, and more. Led by Chef Angelo Traversa, Blade 1936 has made a name for itself by nailing the classics. Try the ever-popular popular pizza Margherita and penne arrabbiata and stop by for their Happy Hour. On Wednesdays, Blade 1936 offers a date night menu that includes an appetizer, two entrees, a dessert, and a bottle of wine for only $85.
Dija Mara
This Balinese eatery is housed in an edgy, industrial chic building on the 101, but don’t be fooled by the gritty appearance, Dija Mara is one of the most enjoyable culinary experiences in all of Oceanside. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Indo when you try their Nasi Goreng and Sambal Tuna Crudo. They also have a brunch menu that puts an Eastern spin on classic brunch dishes like Eggs Benedict. They offer a rotation selection of natural wines and have a lively cocktail menu.
Casual Dining in Oceanside
Heritage Brewery & Barbecue
You can’t go wrong with good barbeque and beer. Heritage specializes in smoked brisket and serves it in a variety of styles, from sandwiches to loaded fries and even in tacos with queso fresco. So, pick your favorite brisket dish, order some sides for the table, like their pesto mac and cheese or famous potato salad, and make sure to save room for beer.
Rye’s & Grind
Rye’s & Grind is a modern deli serving classic delicatessen favorites with a twist. With mammoth-sized proportions and decadent menu items Pastrami Hash with bell peppers and a side of red or green salsa and the Pastrami Pusher sandwich with slaw and Swiss cheese, Rye’s & Grind is the perfect post-surf stop.
Petite Madeline Bakery
Petite Madeline Bakery is an old-time bakery located right by the Oceanside Pier. With everything made from scratch, you can’t go wrong with a sandwich on fresh-baked sourdough or a baked good and a hot cup of coffee to start your day.

Just down the street from our boutique Oceanside hotel, the Plot is a vegan eatery that was recently ranked #2 in Tasting Tables 20 Best Restaurants in San Diego.
